Occupational Therapy Team
Winna Wijaya
Hi there! My name is Winna and I’m an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Born in Indonesia and raised in Singapore, I later spent time in the United Kingdom before moving to Australia to complete my Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) degree at The University of Queensland.
My interest in occupational therapy began while working at a special needs school. There, I witnessed how the right support could boost a child’s confidence, help them acquire new skills, and encourage greater independence. I believe in celebrating what makes each person unique. My approach is to tailor interventions that are client-centred, meaningful, and enjoyable.
Having lived in different countries and worked with families from diverse backgrounds, I have adopted a family-centred approach valuing collaboration, inclusion and empowerment. My experience includes supporting children with developmental needs as well as assisting adults in hospital rehabilitation and mental health settings. Across all these environments, I partnered closely with multidisciplinary teams to foster independence and engagement in daily activities.
I view behaviour as a form of communication, and believe there is always a reason behind it. My goal is to help individuals express themselves, develop essential skills, and take part in what matters most to them – be it learning, play, self-care, or work. It is a privilege to walk alongside clients and families, sharing in their growth and achievements. I would be honoured to play a part in your journey.
