Play Therapy Team
Windy Wijaya
Hello there! I’m Windy, a Play Therapist based in Singapore who has also lived in the United Kingdom and Indonesia. My career began in the corporate world, but my passion for working with children grew through years of volunteering, teaching, and serving in the children’s ministry. Witnessing children grow and learn has always brought me joy and gave me a deep appreciation for children’s emotional world.
Play – every child plays! It is their most natural form of communication and a powerful way to express what words cannot. Each child carries their own worries and challenges, and they experience anxiety, distress, and grief just as deeply as adults. Yet because they cannot always put these feelings into words, emotions are often expressed through behaviours that may feel confusing or difficult to manage. Just as adults turn to counselling in times of need, children benefit greatly from a space to explore feelings, process experiences, and build skills.
I practise the Child-Centered Play Therapy under the Integrative Holistic Model, a non-invasive, relationship-based approach that honours each child’s individuality. As a therapist, I value creating a safe and consistent environment where children can express freely, experiment with choices, and discover new ways of coping. Over time, I see them develop emotional awareness, regulation, resilience, and confidence. What makes play therapy empowering is that change comes from within: children begin to learn more about themselves, recognise their owns strengths, and begin to face challenges with greater self-belief.
Alongside my work with children, I believe that true growth happens not only in the playroom but also within the home environment. As children spend most of their time with caregivers, I work closely with parents to deepen their understanding of their child’s emotional needs and explore practical ways to support them. It is always encouraging to witness the bond between parent and child strengthen through greater connection and mutual understanding.
Imaginative play was a wonder for me as a child; it was where emotions, creativity, and discovery came together. Now as a therapist, I continue to be inspired by children’s capacity to express and transform through play. It is a true privilege to be invited into their worlds and to witness families grow together through this journey. I believe meaningful growth begins from the inside out, and I would feel honoured to walk alongside your family in this process.
