Speech & Language Therapy Team

Rhodante Evelyn

I’m Rho, a fully registered Speech and Language Therapist originally from the beautiful island of Barbados in the West Indies. I began my journey in this field with a deep passion for helping children communicate, completing my Bachelor of Science in Speech and Language Therapy at University College Cork (UCC) in Ireland. I specialise in supporting individuals who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to express themselves. I am a neurodiversity-affirming clinician and a passionate disability rights advocate who believes that all individuals, regardless of how they communicate, have the right to be heard, understood, and included.

My practice centres around supporting AAC users and their families through strength-based, family-centred approaches.

My work includes:

  • Providing mentorship and clinical supervision to SLTs and allied professionals in AAC
  • Offering school consultations to support AAC implementation and inclusive classroom practices
  • Delivering direct, individualised intervention for AAC users using strength-based, family-centred approaches
  • Facilitating caregiver training to build confidence and skills in supporting AAC at home and in the community
  • Designing and leading AAC social groups that promote connection, confidence, and real-world communication

I also volunteer as a committee member of the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ISAAC) Singapore Chapter. ISAAC Singapore is a community-run society dedicated to raising awareness and advocating for the AAC community. As part of my volunteer work with ISAAC Singapore, I co-lead AAC Can Share, a learning group that brings together AAC users, caregivers, and professionals through interactive events and collaborative learning opportunities.
