Speech & Language Therapy Team
Anabella Seah
Hi! My name is Anabella and I’m a Speech & Language Therapist. I go by a short form of my name – Ana. I made the decision to be a Speech Therapist as I firmly believe that communication has the power to change lives. Ever since I embarked on my journey to be a Speech Therapist, I have worked with children and adults in a variety of settings, including restructured hospitals, a special school and private practice. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to journey alongside persons with swallowing or communication needs and have never looked back since.
In my career with the pediatric population, I have grown to appreciate the utmost importance of collaborating with parents and other stakeholders to help children develop their full potential and deliver holistic care for each child. I adopt a play-based, child-led approach as I firmly believe play is the way to a child’s heart and best facilitates learning. I enjoy getting to know each child as a unique individual and tailoring sessions to their interests and abilities.
In my practice, I have gained experience working with children displaying language delays and disorders, speech sound disorders and childhood apraxia of speech. I am particularly passionate in supporting school-aged children with language disorders and literacy difficulties, as well as individuals (children and adults) with voice therapy and dysphonia. I have also helped children, adolescents and young adults with developmental difficulties such as ASD, ADHD, Down Syndrome and GDD. I am proficient in both English and Mandarin and am comfortable conducting therapy in either language.
Apart from working with children, I have provided therapy to adults in a restructured hospital. I managed swallowing, speech and language difficulties in patients with acute and chronic medical conditions. These included patients with neurological conditions, geriatric patients with multiple comorbidities, as well as patients who have undergone surgery.
After a day’s work, I head home to be a mom to two little boys! I cherish time with family and now understand the challenges other parents have shared with me. In my leisure time, I enjoy exploring the island with my family on bicycle rides.
