Our Services
Myofunctional Therapy
Myofunctional Therapy involves the neuromuscular re-education of the muscles in the face, mouth, and throat. It uses targeted exercises to retrain the movement and resting patterns of the tongue, lips, cheeks, and jaw, promoting proper oral posture, nasal breathing, and optimal muscle function. Simply put, our myofunctional therapists work with individuals to strengthen and coordinate orofacial muscles to support better breathing, swallowing, speech, sleep, and overall oral health — all of which play a crucial role in everyday functions such as eating, communicating, concentrating and resting.
Some of the key areas we can support include:
- Nasal breathing training
- Tongue posture and tongue strengthening
- Lip seal and lip strength
- Jaw coordination and alignment
- Orofacial awareness and motor control
- Elimination of dysfunctional oral habits (e.g. thumb sucking, open mouth posture)
- Management of tongue thrust and speech sound distortion
- Support in recovery following tongue-tie release or jaw surgery
- Techniques to reduce teeth clenching or grinding (bruxism)
- Improved breathing patterns during sleep (e.g. mouth breathing, sleep-disordered breathing)
Myofunctional Therapy
For Children and Adolescents

As myofunctional therapy requires skills such as facial awareness, voluntary muscle control and following directions, our services are designed for individuals aged 4 years and up. Whether your child is having difficulty with tongue placement or you’re an adult recovering from jaw surgery or managing sleep-disordered breathing, our therapists tailor therapy to your needs and goals.
Therapy may involve fun and engaging activities like:
- Blowing balloons
- Breathing exercises
- Lifting or extending the tongue in specific ways
- Holding objects between the lips
- Playing wind instruments
- Uvula raises and yoghurt suction exercises
- Singing and oral coordination tasks
We aim to help individuals:
- Breathe more efficiently through their nose
- Improve tongue and lip posture to support speech clarity and dental alignment
- Strengthen orofacial muscles for clearer articulation and effective swallowing
- Reduce harmful habits like mouth breathing and tongue thrust
- Support orthodontic treatment goals
- Recover more fully after oral surgery
- Reveal whether speech and language therapy may also be beneficial
- Build confidence in speaking, eating, and social communication
